558 John was a Lieutenant in the United States Navy. He received his
undergraduate training at Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, where
he was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering. He entered
the United States Navy on November 12, 1973. He remained in Pensacola
for flight training and received his Master's Degree in conjunction with
the Navy's program at the University of West Florida. He completed
flight training in December of 1975 and was assigned to VT-4 as a flight
instructor. Dual-qualified in the T2C and TA4J, he instructed in all
phases and also served as the line division officer. Lt. Watson received
orders to the F-14 "Tomcat" Training Squadron VF-101 at Oceana and then
was assigned to VF-84, the "Jolly Rogers Squadron" in 1978. Lt. Watson
deployed with VF-84 in the USS NIMITZ to the Mediterranean Sea in
September 1979. On January 4, 1980 the NIMITZ sortied to the Indian
Ocean in response to the Iranian crisis. Lt. Watson flew missions from
the USS NIMITZ until May 3, 1980, when his aircraft crashed at sea
shortly after takeoff.

Lt. Watson was honored as the VT-4 Instructor of the Year in 1975 and was
named "Top Hook" for outstanding landing performance in the F-14 TOMCAT.
He received numerous awards and recognitions from the civilian community
for his achievements as a water skier, scuba diver and sport fisherman.

Lt. Watson was a member of the Gulf Breeze Presbyterian Church.

566 Randy began his education in Myrtle Grove Elemetary School at age 6. In
the spring of 1968, The City of Pensacola Fiesta of Five Flags Children's
Day Parade conducted an essay contest for the local elemetary schools 4th
and 5th graders. Two children were chosen from each school to jointly
compose an essay entitled "What America Means to Me". Randy was one of
the children chosen to participate. The winners would be King & Queen
and the others would be Duke & Duchess, Knight and Lady and other members
of the court to be in the parade. He attended Escambia Christian School
in the 7th grade. After getting his collar bone broken he went to
Bellview Jr. High School in the 8th grade. He attended Escambia High
School and was in the choir. He was a member of the Rebelaires. In 1973
the Rebelaires went to Vienna, Austria for a youth and music
festival. Randy was editor - and - chief of the high school paper. He
won a 2 year all expense paid scholarship to Pensacola Junior College
from Quill & Scroll. He graduated with honors in 1974. He attended
Pensacola Junior College, then West Florida University and graduated in
1976. He was smart enough he didn't have to take certain subjects.

He won $10.00 for being Poet Laureat, also a plaque from the English
Department, a pin for outstanding student and his picture is in Escambia
High Schools Hall of Fame.

He worked at Seville Quarters as a bus boy at Coppersmiths Resturant
while in high school. He worked at Pfieffers Printing press. He was
Choir and Youth Directed in Blountstown, Florida for a year. He was
later Choir Director at the Myrtle Grove Methodist Church.

Randy is buried in Union Hill Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida.
